Former Lincoln-Sudbury High School Hockey Captain remembered

Sudbury, MA - Former Captain of the Lincoln-Sudbury Varsity Hockey Team is remembered for his smile, and energy on and off the ice.

Scott Milley was a lieutenant in the Army's 10th Mountain Division. He was in his first month of deployment as an Army Ranger. The military didn't give any specifics but Milley passed away on Tuesday Nov. 30th in Afghanistan.

Scott had a childhood goal of being a Soldier with higher aspirations of working for the FBI or CIA after his military service. Scott, 23 years old, was a 2005 graduate of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. He was a captain of the school's hockey team.

Peter Elenbaas, Head coach for the Lincoln-Sudbury Varsity Hockey team, was an assistant coach while Scott was on the team and had this to say about Scott:

"Scott Milley will forever remain "Scooter" in my mind. From time to time I coached him in JV Hockey during 9th grade, the people who knew and loved him called him "Scooter." He had the smile, innocence, energy, and joy that made his boyish nickname perfectly appropriate..."

"Scott took on all opponents. The infectious humor and ebullience remained, but I also got to see the most courageous player i have ever coached. he Dove in front of loose pucks, he hit the biggest players on the other teams."

Scott was a person that didn't want the limelight and recognition. to quote his father Steven Milley, "I'd like the world to know about Scott, that he wanted no praise for anything he did. We used to find commendations tucked away in drawers..."

In Scott's senior season he took on the roll as Captain, leader, and MVP of the Lincoln-Sudbury hockey team,  winning the State Tournament that year.

Quoting Peter Elenbass " To paraphrase my favorite book, 'A River Runs Through it.' If you told me that Scooter was a great leader, friend, captain, and young man I would say, he was more than that. He was beautiful. I will miss him. "

From all of us at New England Hockey Hub. We would like to send our condolences to the Milley family, and salute a great hero, leader, and hockey player in Scott Milley.
