St. Mark's School has turned to noted alum, and longtime National Hockey League star Scott Young, to direct its varsity boys' hockey program.

The Clinton native skated for the Southborough prep school in the early '80s, teaming up with Doug and Greg Brown, Brian Busconi, and Greg Capello. A 6-foot, 190-pound right wing, he was the Hockey East Rookie of the Year at BU in 1986, and drafted 11th overall by the Whalers in 1987. He went on to play 17 years in the NHL with seven teams, netting 342 goals and 414 assists in 1,181 games before retiring in 2006.
